Artist's Comments

The blade's intricate engravings appear to dance upon its deteriorating surface. As you approach it, your mouth begins to feel dry and the very air around you seems to be depleted of any moisture...

A worn old sword whose origins are shrouded in mystery, Vaalukaa Avaskanda is one of twenty-two runic swords scattered across the planes of existence. It is said that whoever brings all twenty-two together will know limitless power, but that is obviously a load of poppy-cock, as anyone attempting to wield twenty-two swords at the same time will tell you.

Vaalukaa Avaskanda, the Everthirst:
It is of rather hefty design with a complicated runic system engraved onto it that has long since been forgotten. While unwieldy at best to those who don't know how to manipulate its myriad of symbols, it becomes a powerful weapon in the hands of anyone capable of deciphering them. Ironically enough, despite its form, it is almost useless in a one-on-one sword fight.

Vaalukaa Avaskanda is capable of drawing and destroying any liquid. This it does continuously unless consciously suppressed, and only after it has already absorbed a set amount- from this it draws its nickname, the Everthirst. If left in any one place for long periods of time, that place will eventually become a desert. An interesting and curious property of the sword is that it gets lighter in the presence of liquid.

Because I looove fluff.

So I spent about a week on this, maybe two or three hours in total. I think I've gotten a bit better at digital painting. Most of the time was spent on perfecting the blade because no matter how many times I redid it, it just didn't look right. Still doesn't, but oh well.

The name is Sanskrit for the two words "sand" and "storm" (with the word for storm also apparently being synonymous with "assault" and "attack" which I found to be pretty appropriate) because I'm super-imaginative like that, hyuk hyuk hyuk. Not that I actually know Sanskrit. Why Sanskrit? Because it sounds like "sand script" I am so clevererer.

Holy crap, full view please.

dang man... that is friggin awesome @_@ I must have looked at that thing like 8 times already.

the detail in both the art and the story behind it is totally cool as well =P

Maybe I'll make a 22-armed ogre that can wield those 22 swords, hmm....

j/k :)

Can't really call it a story in my opinion! I kind of chose a number on the spot.

The links should work now, by the way.

The Everthirst, eh?

Interesting idea for a roleplay, I must admit.

I asked Forgefire_McCain if he would be interested in whipping up some real stats for it.

We'll see.

Nice. Cool lore, gives it more appeal. The blade looks a bit like stone. Maybe that was intended? I like the design but something about it makes it feel like it should be a dagger. Still cool, I like your designs. :)

Yeah, stone was what I was going for (although the color choice wasn't exactly what I had in mind... but once I did the pommel, I was pretty much stuck with it).

I've been told it looked like a dagger, pirate's cutlass, etc. The original blade is a bit thicker, that might have something to do with it.

Man, I haven't seen you in forever.
